The downloaded image can be burn on a CD or on a USB-stick; in case of the latter, the following command line does the job
dd if=openSUSE-11.3-KDE4-LiveCD-arch.iso of=/dev/sdX
where arch (either i686 or x86_64) is the chosen architecture and X the letter identifying the device (unmounted).I've tested it on a Samsung NC10 - 2GB; the boot takes a little while (about 3 to 4 mins); the 1024x600 size is properly set, though the so-called form factor is not set within the system settings.
Also the touchpad needs some personalisation (as well as on systems installed from the 'main' DVD), at least to enable tapping.
All settings are saved by default (personalisation, desktop properties, passwords, WPA keys, ...)!
Unfortunately, some dialogs can hang X, and CTRL-ALT-BACKPACE hangs the system.
After some tries (i.e. reboots) system hangs become so frequent to make further tests a waste of time.
