Knoppix Linux on USB

I've found step-by-step instructions on http://www.pendrivelinux.com/usb-knoppix-510/ then surfed to http://www.knoppix.org/ (check out the language of the page - German as default) to download current ISO from closest mirror or (the Italian one failed :( ) nicer ...

... download under way ...

once done, I have my Knoppix ISO in the download folder of my Windows-box (a Samsung NC10, 2 Gigs, Win SP3), then, according to step 3, I downloaded fixkp2, and opened it.

The ISO is moved in the newly created USB-Knoppix folder, and fixkp2.bat run. My destination flash drive is brand new TDK 8 Gigs.

The batch file format the destination drive, therefore be sure you don't anything valuable in.

Unfortunately, no progress indicator is provided, but uncompressing sequence. After some 5 minutes you are asked confirmation to make the drive bootable (of course, yes), then the process is ended; extra information is provided for Vista users, not my case.

Rebooting ... (make sure the USB device is the first booting device recognised by your BIOS) ...

Success! And in less than 1 minute a Linux system is booted and fully working.

Touchpad: working (too sensible, Control Center | Peripherals | Mouse | Pointer Thresold)
Sound: working
Default display mode: 800 x 600

The second button on the main panel is for Knoppix specific configuration: :( some troubles in recognising the wi-fi device.
